Old Friends offers guided tour experiences that get you up-close-and-personal with our amazing Thoroughbred athletes. We are OPEN FOR TOURS YEAR-ROUND with General, Founders, Private, Group, and Every Horse on the Farm tours available by ADVANCE RESERVATION ONLY. Tour details, dates and times, and what you should know about visiting us are detailed below. Please choose which tour is right for you and book through our online portal, or call us at (502) 863-1775. Cancel within 24 hours of tour time to receive a full refund.

What You Should Know
About Visiting Old Friends

  • We are a working farm. Expect mud, uneven surfaces, flies and typical farm odors.
  • Our tours are outside so dress accordingly and wear comfortable shoes.
  • Tours are conducted rain or shine. In case of severe weather, tours may be cancelled with full refund.
  • Golf cart seating is available on most tours. Priority is given to those with mobility issues, and to those unable to walk for the entire tour. Transition from a wheelchair requires a step up into the golf cart. For those unable to transition from a wheelchair, please call our office to arrange tour accommodation.
  • We will make every effort to accommodate requests to see specific horses, pending staff availability.
  • Respect all posted signage, rules, regulations, and safety instructions conveyed by Old Friends staff and tour guides.
  • No children under 10 at this time are allowed EXCEPT on private tours. Counsel your children that they must respect the rules laid out by the tour guides. They cannot pet the horses without first asking their tour guide, no running and no climbing on gates and fences.
  • Pets are not allowed except for Service Dogs.
  • No weapons are permitted on the farm.

General Tours

Your tour guide will lead a 90-minute walking tour, introducing you to approximately 15 Old Friends retirees including 1997 Kentucky Derby winner Silver Charm and Hall of Fame member Lava Man.

  • Reservations required.
  • Maximum tour size 20 people.
  • We cannot accommodate children under 10 on this tour.
  • Limited golf cart availability.

Founder's Tour
Founder's Tours available most Fridays through November 2024

Old Friends founder Michael Blowen leads your 90-minute tour, introducing you to 10-15 Old Friends residents including 1997 Kentucky Derby winner Silver Charm and Hall of Fame member Lava Man.

  • Maximum tour size 15 people.
  • We cannot accommodate children under 10 on this tour.
  • Limited golf cart availability.

Every Horse on the Farm Tour
Available on select Sundays in 2024

A three-hour driving tour visiting every horse residing at Dream Chase Farm with Old Friends photographer Laura Battles.

  • Tour cost $150 per person.
  • Reservations required.
  • Maximum tour size 5 people.
  • We cannot accommodate children on this tour.
  • 24 hour cancellation policy

Private Tours
Available Year-Round by Appointment

An exclusive tour opportunity for groups of 10 and under. Your tour guide will lead your party on a 90-minute tour introducing you to 10-15 Old Friends residents.

  • Reservation required. Minimum four days advance notice to schedule.
  • Tour cost $75 per person with Old Friends volunteer tour guide; or $200 per person with Old Friends founder Michael Blowen.
  • Children 11 and under are free.
  • Limited golf cart availability.
  • 24-hour cancellation policy.

From West—Louisville

Take I-64 East to Georgetown Exit 69. Turn left off the exit ramp onto US 62 (Paynes Depot Road). Old Friends is 1.8 miles ahead on the left. (Follow the brown directional signs). Go approximately 100 yards past the Visitor Center (yellow house), turn left onto the service road (Neel Lane), then make an immediate left to continue to the Old Friends Visitor Center. Park in the lot beside the Visitor Center.

From North—Cincinnati

Take I-75 South to Georgetown Exit 126. Turn right off the exit ramp onto US62. Go approximately 6 miles, then turn left at stoplight to continue on US62. Go one mile to Old Friends on the right. Turn right onto the service road (Neel Lane), then make an immediate left to continue to the Old Friends Visitor Center (yellow house). Park in the lot beside the Visitor Center.

From East—Lexington

Take I-64 West to Georgetown Exit 69. Turn right off the exit ramp onto US62 (Paynes Depot Road). Old Friends is 1.8 miles ahead on the left. (Follow the brown directional signs). Take I-75 North. I-75 merges with I-64 at Lexington. At the northern I-64 and I-75 split, continue on I-64 West towards Louisville. Take Georgetown Exit 69. Turn right off the exit ramp onto US62 (Paynes Depot Road). Old Friends is 1.8 miles ahead on the left. (Follow the brown directional signs). Go approximately 100 yards past the Visitor Center (yellow house), turn left onto the service road (Neel Lane), then make an immediate left to continue to the Old Friends Visitor Center. Park in the lot beside the Visitor Center.
