The aptly named Affirmed Success has all the breeding, looks and credentials of a true champion. One of the best sons of Triple Crown winner Affirmed, this handsome, gutsy gelding won 9 stakes victories on dirt and turf for earnings of $2,285,315, including the Vosburgh Stakes (G1) and Forego Handicap (G2) in 1998, the Cigar Mile (G1) in 1999, and in 2000 the General George (G2) and Poker (G3) Handicaps. The following year he repeated his Poker H. win, also capturing the Jaipur Handicap (G3). In 2002 at the age of 8, he prevailed in yet another Grade 1, the Carter Stakes, and at 9 took the Toboggan Handicap (G3), racing three wide to flash to the front in sizzling style. As jockey Jerry Bailey remarked, "He's a warrior."
Affirmed Success is an old hand at greeting his many admirers, having played host to visitors in the All Breeds Show at the Kentucky Horse Park from 1994 to the fall of 2007. He retired to Old Friends in October 2007, where his sociable personality and vivid hazel eyes immediately made him a favorite. He is a born star.
