Lifetime:  70 Starts, 14 Wins

HistoryAwad was a born winner—and he has the credentials to prove it.  Of his 70 starts, he finished in the money 50 percent of the time, earning $3,270,131.  His most prestigious wins include the 1993 Secretariat Stakes (G-1) and the 1995 Arlington Million (G-1), the latter giving trainer David Donk and jockey Eddie Maple their first million triumphs.  Awad, set a new Arlington Million track record, running the 1-1/4 mile track in a blistering 1:58.69.  That year also saw Awad win the Manhattan Handicap  (G-1) and the Pan American Handicap (G-2).  Awad fell short in his bid to win the Sword Dancer Invitational Handicap in 1995, losing to his Old Friend’s paddock mate, Kiri’s Clown.  He bounced back in 1997, though, winning the Sword Dancer with Pat Day aboard in a record time of 2:23.20 for 1-1/2 miles.

Awad arrived at Old Friends in September 2006 and wows the visitors with his good looks and lively antics.
