Update 10/5/10

From Michael…
What a great weekend: Visitors from 15 different countries have toured Old Friends during the Alltech World Equestrian Games; Tinners Way, multiple Gr. 1 winning son of Secretariat, made a special appearance at the Secretariat Festival in Paris; dozens of magnificent Facebook supporters contributed nearly $2,000 to our expansion fund and Special Ring learned a new trick.
One of Calvin Borel’s favorite Thoroughbreds, Free Spirits Joy, landed at Old Friends a few days ago. Due to the diligent efforts of Calvin and Lisa. his wife, and Susie Picou-Oldham, daughter of Free Spirit Joy’s trainer, Clarence Picou, this magnificent racehorse has a great paddock across from Marquetry. Free Spirits Joy’s major claim to fame was his great victory as the only Louisiana bred to win the Super Derby.
This morning, as the temperature dropped the ’40s, the 25-year-old Ogygian trotted and reared and acted like a three-year-old. Danthebluegrassman and Flick played halter tag and Commentator screamed for mints. Oh, Special Ring’s trick is that when you ask him to show his tattoo..he does. I can’t thank everyone for your support. I hope you can join us for our party at 1 p.m. on November 7. We’re expecting alot of great guests and surprises with plenty of great auction items and, of course, you’ll get a chance to see all of our great retirees.
