On Sunday September 10, Old Friends will host an exclusive live auction of fine art and choice racing memorabilia as a prelude to the inaugural Fasig-Tipton Turf Showcase, Presented by Woodbine Racetrack.

The Old Friends auction will be held for one hour, beginning at 3:00 p.m. (EST), at Fasig-Tipton, located at 2400 Newtown Pike in Lexington, KY. Fans are welcome! Items in the auction will be available for preview on Saturday September 9th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Kentucky Room of the Fasig-Tipton pavilion. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.


For those unable to attend the auction, proxy bids will also be accepted via email. Bids will be accepted from Friday September 8th at 6 p.m. until Sunday September 10th at 9 a.m. sharp. Bids can be emailed to [email protected].

All proceeds raised from the auction will benefit Old Friends, the non-profit facility based in Georgetown, KY., that cares for 175 retired racehorses, among them Kentucky Derby and Preakness champions Silver Charm and War Emblem, Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Alphabet Soup, and Belmont Stake winners Sarava and Touch Gold.

Derby Experience with Chris McCarron           Value $5,000 +

Four lucky guests join Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron for an exclusive experience at the Kentucky Derby, May 5, 2018.*  Tour of the backstretch to meet the Derby horses, a visit to the jock’s room, photo and autograph sessions, then join Derby winner McCarron in box seats to watch the race.     (*Guests must provide own transportation to CD.)

American Pharoah Collection          Value: $5,000

Celebrate the pedigree of 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah. This is a deluxe shadowbox of authentic halters worn by sire Pioneerof the Nile, dam Littleprincessemma, and the Pharoah himself. Includes a signed & framed Barbara Livingston photograph of AP’s Belmont Stakes win. Certificates of authenticity included.

Raku Horsehair Pot                                      Value $250

A Rakuware pot created by Bent Feather Pottery in Goshen, NY. The pot is handmade, hand glazed, and contains horse hair from Old Friends’s three Kentucky Derby champions: Silver Charm, Charismatic, and War Emblem. The rim is encircled in leather and a small strand of each of the horse's tail hair is also woven into the decorative leather tassel. Certificate of authenticity included.

Oil on Metal by Fred Krakowiak       Value $3,500

24 x 36 original oil on metal portrait of Silver Charm and Touch Gold by Fred Krakowiak, who is a recognized wildlife artist, author, and safari expert. His artwork, commissioned internationally by private collectors, can also be found at the Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery in LaJolla, CA. The work in mounted and ready to hang.

Custom Horse Portrait by Dagmar Galleithner-Steiner      Value: $ 11,000

A one-of a kind piece. This will be an original Pastelmat®, approximately 19x25, framed portrait of a horse of your choice* by international artist Dagmar Galleithner-Steiner, plus dinner with the artist, her husband, retired jockey Joe Steiner, and Old Friends’s Michael Blowen and Diane White at the famed Holly Hill Inn in Midway, KY. Galleithner-Steiner is best known for her commissioned portraits of Pacific Classic winners Shared Belief and California Chrome.   (*Completion date with framing is December, 2017.
