Kano Doble 1999-2012

Kano Doble, who resided at Old Friends for seven years, was humanely euthanized yesterday afternoon at Hagyard’s Equine Clinic due to complications resulting from a raging infection. “Mick,” as he was known to many volunteers, wasn’t a tourist attraction. He resided in the gelding herd at the furthest end of the farm and mostly kept to himself. But, sometimes, these great animals take the most unexpected times to show their inner strength. Just after he passed on, our Hagyard’s veterinarian said he was remarkable kind especially in the face of his pain. Stoic until the end.

KANO DOBLE By Holy Bull out of Kanduit, Rugged Man

Kano Doble was the 13-year-old son of Horse of the Year and 3-Year-Old champion Holy Bull, out of the Irish-bred Hard Ridden mare Kanduit. Kano Doble, aka Mick, had 33 starts, 1 win – at the age of 5 in a 1-1/6 maiden claiming race at River Downs– and earned $22, 119 in his career. He retired in 2005.
