Calvin Borel Day at Old Friends!

SPECIAL EVENT
Monday May 20th is Calvin Borel Day at Old Friends
Jockey Calvin Borel is returning to Old Friends!

Borel, who visited Old Friends, the Thoroughbred Retirement Center in Georgetown, KY, in 2009, will be making another special guest appearance at the farm on Monday May 20th from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Guests are invited to come and give the three-time Kentucky Derby-winning jockey a big send-off before his induction into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in August. Our own retiree Ready’s Rocket’s trainer Tim Glyshaw is coming, too!

In his career Borel has won over 5,000 races. He is the only jockey ever to win the Kentucky Derby three times in a four-year span, first aboard Street Sense in 2007 and then with Mine That Bird in 2009 and Super Saver in 2010. Only Hall of Famers Eddie Arcaro, Bill Hartack and Bill Shoemaker surpass Borel’s three victories in the Run for the Roses.

Borel’s other major victories include the Preakness, the Woodward, the Haskell, the Mother Goose, and the Kentucky Oaks, which he captured with 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra.

At Old Friends Borel will be on hand to sign autographs, offer photo ops, and talk with fans. He will also be visiting some of his all-time favorite mounts that are retired at the farm, including the most winning horse in Churchill Downs history, Ready’s Rocket.

For more information or to RSVP call Old Friends at (502) 863-1775.
