Help The Horses, Get a Book! Special Promotion

Help the horses and get books!

Thanks to the Daily Racing Form’s generosity, we’re able to offer our donors two great gift premiums and it couldn’t come at a better time. We’re raising money to put more hay in the barn, do some seeding, and spruce up the farm after a tough, wet winter. We need the money to do it immediately so anyone who donates $50 will receive a copy of “Champions, Fourth Edition” the outstanding chronicle of the greatest Thoroughbreds of all time through a comprehensive listing of their past performances. It includes many of our retirees as well as 12th Triple crown Winner American Pharoah. For a donation of $100, we will send Barbara Livingston’s memorable book, “Old and New Friends.” This volume also highlights Old Friends retirees and a special section on Our Mims and Jeannie Mirabito. With a donation $150 or more you get both books.

This offer will run from April 2- April 15. Call us at 502-863-1775 to donate or
send a check to Old Friends, 1841 Paynes Depot Rd., Georgetown, KY 40324.

This fabulous fourth edition features over 550 complete lifetime past performances of racing’s elite, more than 135 rare photographs and illustrations, and a decade-by-decade recounting of Thoroughbred history by the sport’s leading journalists. This new coffee-table book is a must-have for every racing enthusiast!

When Barbara Livingston’s first “Old Friends” book was released in 2002, the simple concept of chronicling famous – and some not-so-famous – Thoroughbreds in their senior years lit a spark within horse-racing aficionados and further editions followed. In “Old and New Friends,” Livingston features nearly 100 retired horses including dual classic winner Silver Charm, champion Hidden Lake, and the country’s oldest-ever recorded Thoroughbred, Prospect Point. And in a slight departure from the earlier editions, Livingston also features some younger subjects this time, including the 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra and the 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.
