When the horses break from the starting gate in the 150th Kentucky Derby, they aren’t just racing for the Garland of Roses. With Derby Gives 2024 they are Racing For More! Each elite Thoroughbred will be paired with a Thoroughbred aftercare nonprofit with a $150,000 purse to be shared.

The Churchill Downs Foundation has chosen 20 Aftercare organizations to participate in this year’s Derby Gives 2024 initiative. Old Friends is thrilled to be one of those to benefit from this unique fundraiser to support our Thoroughbred heroes!

On April 29, a special Aftercare “post draw” will take place, when Old Friends will be randomly assigned one of the Derby horses. The nonprofit assigned to the winner will receive $25,000; 2nd place will receive $20,000; 3rd place receives $15,000; and 4th place wins $10,000! Places 5-20 will each receive $5,000.
